Social Skills Program: 
Learning While Having Fun

Program Structure

Social skills groups offer a supportive, engaging environment for students to develop confidence, improve communication, and build positive relationships through fun activities.

Key Areas in Social Skills Groups:​

  • Communication: Practicing conversations, eye contact, listening, and turn-taking.

  • Emotional Awareness: Recognizing and expressing emotions, enhancing empathy and self-regulation.

  • Cooperation: Encouraging sharing, turn-taking, and teamwork through group games.

  • Problem-Solving: Resolving conflicts and managing social challenges through role-play.

  • Friendship Skills: Building and maintaining friendships with kindness, compliments, and social cues.

Sibling Inclusion

We encourage siblings to join the program to strengthen family bonds and provide opportunities to practice social skills in a familiar setting. Siblings support each other, enhancing learning and fostering a deeper understanding of each other's social and emotional development.

6:30-8:00PM

Once a week, 1.5 hours

Grades 4-6 • Tuesday

  • Theme: Get Cooking!

  • Focus: Fun baking activities

Grades 7-9 • Thursday

  • Theme: Real Talk: Social Skills for Everyday Life

  • Focus: Practice everyday conversations and conflict resolution

High School • Wednesday

  • Theme: Role-play games (e.g., Dungeons & Dragons)

  • Focus: Teamwork, communication, and problem-solving through structured play

Activities are fun and engaging, using games, role-playing, and hands-on exercises to help children develop life skills. This enjoyable approach builds confidence, enabling students to apply skills in real-world social situations.

Weekend Programming 

Price:

$3,000 for 12-week program

Time:

Saturdays, 2.5 hours

 

Grades 4-6 

  • Time: 9:30-12:00

  • Focus: Making and maintaining friendships through kindness, conversation, and problem-solving.

Grades 7-9 

  • Time: 1:00-3:30

  • Theme: Game On! Social Edition

  • Focus: Turn-taking, teamwork, and fair play through interactive games.

  • Activities: Board games, cooperative challenges

High School 

  • Time: 6:00-8:30

  • Theme: Food & Friends

  • Focus: making meals and socializing

  • Basics of dating

Location:

Cambridge, Oak Bridge Hespeler campus

Exclusions:

Pre-group screenings are free and assess if group learning suits your child, providing clinical recommendations and alternative options.
