Primary Enhanced Behaviour and Academic Programming - Grades 1-3
- 2:1 ratio
- Max 10 students per class
- Students in grades 1-3 who require additional assistance with emotional regulation, language and communication development, social skills, and academic support.
- We teach students from where they are at. All students are on an Alternative Individualized Education Plan
- Through small class sizes and high teacher ratio, placement is based on social-emotional, communication and academic assessments
- Specialized programs and interventions are implemented to improve social skills and promote positive interactions with peers and teachers. This includes:
- PEERS: PEERS | Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior Students are explicitly taught social skills and emotional regulation strategies.
- Circles The Circles Curriculum - Social Boundaries Students are taught about social and relationship boundaries
- ACT: students receive direct lessons and practice related to ACT and Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
- AIM curriculum: a social-emotional curriculum
- Alternative programming from the Ontario Curriculum includes specialized and evidence-based programs and interventions to improve academic performance in:
- Reading: decoding and comprehension
- Writing: explicitly teach fundamental writing skills
- Math: core foundational math concepts and skills
- STEM: hands-on STEM activities
