Now Hiring - Executive Director

About Oak Bridge Academy
Oak Bridge Academy is a small, not-for-profit, independent school which offers a unique and rewarding learning environment to students with exceptional learning needs. At our core, we are a community. We support a whole-child, framed under the philosophy of evidence-based practice. We strive to have strong connections with our students, grounded in a growth mindset and strengths-based approach. All OBA staff work together as a part of a collaborative team to provide an engaging, rigorous and relevant education to all of our students. Academic, social and emotional regulation, skill-building and goal setting are an integral part of our program.

The Role
We are seeking to add our first Executive Director to our team. Since our inception in 2018 , this role has been done by our Principal, however with our ambitious plans for growth for the future, we need someone whose sole focus is driving our growth.

Working alongside the Principal, the role of the ED is to oversee other leaders in the organization, work directly with the board of directors, and ultimately shape the organization’s future by steering the team in the right direction. The Executive Director is responsible for working in conjunction with the board of directors and Principal to determine the strategy and direction of Oak Bridge Academy. This includes future and succession planning as well as year by year direction. The ED executes the mission and mandate of OBA and ensures that the strategic direction of the organization fulfills them. This leadership role sets up the foundation of “what” we are going to do.

Accountabilities
Financial Management:
This includes finding and managing funding sources such as donors and government grants/programs. Establishing and maintaining relationships with major donors and marketing OBA to potential new donors or fundraising sources is a big part of the ED’s financial responsibilities. The ED also works closely with the Principal & treasurer to create the yearly budget and present it to the board for approval.

Board Liaison:
The ED is the conduit into the organization for the board of directors, providing monthly updates on the progress of the execution of the strategy within the organization as well as any other major organizational updates that may come up. The ED is accountable to the board for this progress. The ED will work with the board and principal to create OBA’s mission and mandate and the strategy to carry those out effectively. The ED will also play a big part in recruiting new board members to fill any skill gaps that arise on the board.

Public Relations:
The Executive Director is the face of OBA. They will establish and nurture relationships with other community and government organizations. The ED will be responsible for any public facing statements or messaging coming from Oak Bridge Academy and will be the go-to person for any responses necessary to the public.

Organizational Health & Compliance:
The ED is responsible for ensuring the organization runs efficiently and effectively according to the strategic plan. The Executive Director will work to create solutions when organizational issues or roadblocks arise. Staying on top of compliance in policies, procedures and processes is also the responsibility of the ED.

Qualifications
  • Authentic passion and enthusiasm for progressive education and life-long learning
  • Alignment with OBA’s mission and philosophy
  • Past experience in an executive leadership role at a not for profit organization
  • A true connector who brings an extensive network in the NFP ecosystem
